4. Afternoon Snack - This includes another 15gms of carbohydrates in the form of a fruit or 3 squares of graham crackers.

5. Dinner- During this period, 82gms of carbohydrates can be consumed. This can include:


Any of these carbohydrate choices such as one large baked potato or a cup of cooked pasta, a small dinner roll, a cup of fresh melon cubes, or a cup of skimmed milk
Any two green leafy vegetables such as asparagus and lettuce
3 ounces of meat or other protein substitute like egg white, breast chicken, low-fat cheese or salmon
1tsp margarine

6. Evening Snacks - Evening diet should always be light and low in calories so as to aid in easy digestion. In dinner, 27gms of carbohydrates can be taken in the form of 1 slice whole wheat bread or 6 whole wheat crackers, 1 meat or other protein substitute such as 1 ounce low fat cheese, and a cup of milk. Milk ensures good night sleep.
